Greetings from figureplant!
designers and fabricators of weird (and normal) things

Indeed!,we are a design & fabrication resource uniquely positioned betweeen advertising, industrial & interior design and architecture.

We build objects and spaces for designers, photographers, ad agencies, event planners, film makers and private clients nationwide, oftentimes bridging the gaps between these worlds.

The first half of this year has proven to be, well... about as weird as the last half of last year - including winning an award for innovative visual design (see, we do design..) We'll let the pictures tell it like it is... weirdest first:

Condemned2, Sega's newest game of gore will bleed you dry... with throat slashing good times.

We enjoyed our selves to death, while sculpting versions of the game characters for print ads in your normal teen angst periodicals. Our festive friends at Duncan Channon continue to bring interesting, somewhat nasty ideas our way-

new bulb on the block
broadcast

PG+E's new compact florescent bulb advocacy campaign has everyone talking- incandescents and fluorescents alike . In their latest TV spots by Dwyer Productions, these two bulbs play dress up in every room in the house. So lets just say we now make clothes and dollhouse furnishings for light bulbs..

bourne - ballet - bamboo - billboard : events abound
events

Vivendi Games has produced the newest Bourne related video game title. To kick it off the release and entice reviewers/press they produced a one day event at Blue Sky Studios here in SF.

The industrial space needed 'spying up' and figureplant was tasked with the job. We propped the space based on game stills, including a 'command center' and the ubiquitous crates/palettes and loading dock junk. Vistors were led through the 'game inspired' space to the testing area..

San Francisco Ballet celebrates it's 75th anniversary this year, and to kick it off they had an icy soiree. Event planners Ideas, contracted us to design and build a large modular entrance to the tented event. Our architectural facade features custom ice texture plexi sheeting processed by Paragon Frames, our go-to acrylic dudes.

Eco-Deco

New clients, 11th hour projects solicited table adornment ideas for their latest conference dinner. Held at Stanford University, the "Energy Crossroads Conference '08" focused on sustainability.

The 30 centerpieces we designed and produced featured elements of bamboo plywood, reclaimed redwood and California native orchids.

Our longtime collaborators Flyaway Productions continue to push the limits of dance and where it's performed. Last year Jo Krieter and company proposed a show on the SIDE of a building at 24th and Mission in San Francisco. Dancers suspended from rigging lines utilized props and set items in front of a custom printed billboard designed and fabricated by figureplant in conjuntion with Steven McCaffery

In recognition of our contributions, we received an "Izzie Award" for innovative visual design. The "Izzies" have been awarded for 24 years here in SF, to honor local dance artists and promote their visibility, primarily by acknowledging outstanding achievements within a twelve-month period of performances.
